The parishioners of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration invite you to join us on a spiritual journey.

 

The Church of the Transfiguration is a eucharistically based faith community of neighbors and families celebrating different understandings of the Christian faith within the Episcopal Church.  As we attempt to live out our call to be the body of Christ in the world, we strive to be a beacon of justice-seeking and creativity, and to honor St. Benedict's teaching: "Let all who enter here be received as Christ."

 

Transfiguration, a community of individuals from many religious backgrounds, is located near Signal Butte and Broadway in Mesa, Arizona.

 

Visitors are warmly welcomed to coffee and conversation following each service. Our church and parish hall are wheelchair accessible.

Dear Friends,

Only a few weeks ago Rex and I said goodbye to you to embark on the next great journey of our lives.  As you and we now turn our hearts to Holy Week and Easter, I am writing to thank you for everything, which over almost five years of being with you, covers much.  In particular, though, we want you to know how deeply moved we were at the generous and warm farewell that you gave us on our final Sunday with you.  Friends from other congregations who had come to be with us on February 5 remarked with wonder and joy on the great outpouring of affection and appreciation on that day.  I know that Rex and I will always remember it -- and you -- with enormous and humble thanks.  I want you to know that you have been a part of every day in "this" Transfiguration and I expect that you always will be.  I have talked so much about you, referring to you affectionately as "T-West."  You know, I hope, that you are forever in my heart, you have established for yourselvesa permanent place there, and I pray always for you, asking God to bring to fulfillment the great work that Christ began in you.  We both send you our love and wish you rich blessings for Holy Week, Easter and always.

Jacob's Kitchen Update

As of December 31, 2011 the parishioners of Transfiguration have provided the funding for 938,040 meals through the Jacob's Kitchen Program. These meals have been provided in our own neighborhood where we currently have over 35,000 people living at or below the Federal Poverty Guidelines. This is a tremendous accomplishment in just over 5 years. We have recently learned that United Food Bank's free food sources have diminished while the cost of other food sources has increased. Because of this, our meal totals will now be calculated with a cost of 5 cents per meal. It will just take us a bit longer to reach our first million meals! God Bless you all.
